The Sherwani is a long coat largely similar to an achkan in styling and intent. It is buttoned along the center up to the collar and typically falls below the knees in length. The Sherwani has a rich history dating back to the 19th century, and was commonly worn by Turkish and Persian nobles of the time, and brought to India during the rule of the Mogul Empire.
